Beware of New Ransomware
Be cautious if you get an email that looks like it is from the United States Postal Service (USPS), the links may lead to ransomware. The ransomware, called TeslaCrypt, is delivered to your computer via an email that looks legitimate. The email mentions an attachment and when clicked, the files automatically begin to encrypt your computer's files and the only way to get them unencrypted is to pay the group responsible to get them to "unlock" your files (hence the name ransomware).
Always be on the lookout for emails like this and make sure to inform your employees and customers of the risks associated with falling for such scam emails.

Shazam Bolt$ is now available to Bank of McCrory customers.
The Bank of McCrory has been notified by Shazam of the possible breach of computer records of a store in our trade area, and sent us a list of card numbers that MAY have been compromised. If your card is on this list, the bank has converted your card to 'PIN based' only, which will work at -ALL- ATMs and many stores (like Walmart). The bank will contact you via phone in the next few days to explain your options.
Bank of McCrory believes there might be a skimmer device being used in this tri-county area. A skimmer is a device used by thieves to steal your card information and PIN number. A skimmer usually sits in front of the card reader slot on an ATM, gas station pump, fast food card reader, or any other legitimate card reading device. For more information on skimmers click here for a summary or here for more detailed information.
